The Ricoh PENTAX PF-85EDA Spotting Scope is a compact, highly portable and waterproof terrestrial telescope that is ideal for a variety of applications including bird watching, and nature and astronomical observations. The PF-85 EDA Kit includes the smc PENTAX 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece. This eyepiece allows 20 to 60x zooming. The newly designed optics of the spotting scope incorporates a large-aperture 85mm objective lens, delivering a bright, clear, high-contrast field of view for high-quality observations. ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical elements effectively minimize chromatic aberrations, and the latest multi-layer coating process drastically reduces reflectance. The roof prism optical design enables the PENTAX PF-85EDA to be compact and highly portable, making it comfortable to carry for outdoor explorations. With a dust-proof glass element in the eyepiece mount, the scope is waterproof (equivalent to JIS Class 7; with water resistance to a depth of 1m) for dependable use even in the rain or mist. The scope’s interior is filled with nitrogen gas to prevent fogging caused by sudden temperature changes, ensuring a clear field of view, even in challenging weather conditions. Its eyepiece section is slanted upward at a 45-degree angle, enabling the user to easily adjust the eye level and observe subjects while standing or sitting in a natural, relaxed posture. The eyepiece mount’s standard 31.7mm (1.25 inch) sleeve accepts a range of eyepieces including the XF series specifically designed for PENTAX spotting scopes and the XW series optimized for astronomical observation. The PF-85 EDA spotting scope is made in Japan and comes with a case, objective lens cap and eyepiece lens cap.

The PENTAX PF-85EDA features ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical elements to effectively minimize chromatic aberrations. With the combination of a full multi-coating process applied to all optical elements and a phase coating process applied to the roof prism, this spotting scope delivers a clear, high-contrast field of view for high-quality observations.
Compact Body for Excellent Portability
Despite its large, 85mm-diameter objective lens, this spotting scope is designed to be compact and highly portable, thanks to the incorporation of the latest optical design featuring a roof prism. This compact design makes it easy to carry. Its compact dimensions and portability also come in handy in various types of nature and astronomical observation, including bird watching.
Compatibility with a Range of Eyepieces
The eyepiece mount features an American-standard 31.7mm (1.25 inches) sleeve to accept a range of eyepieces, including the XF series specifically designed for PENTAX spotting scopes, and the XW series perfect for astronomical observation. This compatibility allows the user to choose the eyepiece that best accommodates a specific application.
Slanted-Barrel Design
The eyepiece section is slanted upward at a 45-degree angle, allowing the user to easily adjust the eye level and observe subjects while standing or sitting in a natural, relaxed posture.
Waterproof for Use in Rain
By inserting a dust-proof glass element in the eyepiece mount, the spotting scope is designed to be airtight for outstanding waterproof performance (equivalent to JIS Class 7) with water resistance to a depth of one meter. It is not meant for use underwater) for dependable use even in the rain or mist.

How do I return an item?

Returns are incredibly simple. Please log into your account, find your item you wish to return and follow the prompts to make a return. If you do not have an account, click here to find your order and make a return.

Will I receive a full refund when I return an item?

You will receive a full refund when you return an item in its original manufacturer’s packaging, undamaged and unmarked. If the item you are returning is priced at less than $35, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee. Please note you will not be refunded any shipping charges.

How many days do I have to make a return?

You have 30 days to make a return. During the holiday season, from November 1 to December 31, we extend the return window to 60 days. 

My item was damaged in transit. How do I place a return?

If your order has been noticeably damaged in transit, we strongly recommend that you refuse delivery and notify us immediately. Claims for missing items or items damaged in transit must be made within 48 hours of delivery. If there is carrier damage, please contact support@focuscamera.com with your order number and a description of the damage.

Can I exchange an item?

We do not currently offer exchanges. Please return the item you purchased within 30 days and order what you’d like instead.

If I ordered a kit, do I have to return all the items?

If you ordered a kit, you must return all components and accessories to receive a full refund.

I ordered a product that included a free item. I’d like to return it, do I need to return the free item as well?

If you ordered a product that included a free item, you must include the free item with your return. If not, your return will not be accepted and you will not receive a full refund.

Do you offer repairs?

We currently only offer camera repairs at our Brooklyn store. The item must be dropped off and collected in person as we do not accept shipped items for repair. For more information, please call our Brooklyn store on 1.718.431.7900.
