Atomos Shogun Studio II 3RU Rackmount 4K Dual Recorder and Monitor

Record, play, monitor, and edit with the Atomos Shogun Studio II Dual Recorder/Monitor. Featuring a 3RU form factor, the Atomos Shogun Studio II features two calibrated 7-inch touchscreen monitors backed with features like dual 4Kp60 recording (1 x input per channel), bi-directional SDI to HDMI conversions with support for Quadlink SDI inputs, 4K to HD down conversion on loop out with DCI crop option, in-rack HDR monitoring, and RAW to video input conversion for RAW Masters with downstream video outputs. It also includes a built-in 3D LUT box for monitoring, loop out, and burn in. The Color Pipeline management allows for real-time conversion between Log and HDR standards (Rec.2100 - HLG, ST.2084 and Dolby Vision). The Atomos Shogun Studio II Dual Monitor directly captures the content from the sensors of any camera that outputs a clean feed such as studio camera channels, Remote Pan Tilt Zoom and TX outputs from vision mixers. This also includes RAW outputs from large sensor cinematic cameras into highly efficient ProRes RAW codec or visually lossless industry standard Apple ProRes and Avid DNx edit-ready codecs. The built-in redundant dual power supply balances the power load and is lined to the user interface to provide warning if a PSU fails.

Image Analysis and QC

Each of the 7-inch monitors provide accurate viewing of content as well as a host of tools for image analysis. These Wave Form monitors offer Luma, RGD parade, Vector Scope with Vector zoom functions. Its 1:1 and 2:1 zoom function lets you zoom in to check shots for focus and exposure - perfect when shooting with a remote camera control unit. The Atomos Shogun Studio II also offers Focus peaking, zebra and false color functions. It supports audio monitoring by providing VU meters for up to 12 channels of embedded audio. It can monitor individual tracks and select which tracks to record.

Video, Audio and Synchronization I/O

The Shogun Studio II’s rear panel offers grouped connectivity for each of the recorder channels. It features 12G, 6G, 3G (single, Dual, Quad) and 1.5B SDI I/O, HDMI port with support both input and output sources along with an XLR audio I/O, Genlock and LTC input as well as loop through. With the bi-directional SDI and HDMI signal support, this recorder/monitor can be used to connect an HDMI input source and to an SDI source. For example a DSLR can be routed to a mixer or LCD screens for displaying feed from an SDI multi viewer. Both the SDI and HDMI I/O also support 4K to HD signal down conversion.

Advanced Record Modes

The Shogun Studio II Dual Recorder offers a variety of recording modes that are suitable for a wide range of applications. Its Pre Roll mode continuously cache records up to 8 seconds in HD or 2-3 seconds in 4K to make sure you never miss the action.

Multi Camera ISO Recording and Switching

The Shogun Studio II is capable of recording from up to eight SDI inputs sources at up to 1080p60 resolution. Each bank of four inputs supports a switched output that lets you switch two videos or manage more feeds than you may have input for on your video mixer.

Playback and Playlist

In addition to the recording and monitoring tools, this unit can play videos at up to 60p and HD HFR rate at reduced speeds. Both 4K and HD content can be viewed in the same visually lossless quality as the input. You can create playlists from clips either recorded on an Atomos recorder or from your edit system in a supported codec, resolution, and frame rate. You can also group clips to be played in either a run down or reverse order without the need for a play out server. Mark in and out points to create sub clips, loop the playlist or a single file, or you can also mark inputs and outputs for looped playback.

Metadata Tagging, Cut Edits, and EDL XML

The Atomos Shogun Studio II comes packed with functions that helps speedup your end-to-end workflow, allowing for fast turnaround of content, edits, highlight packages, creation of dallies and preparation of content for ingest into Media Asset Management environments. You use up to 10 tags to make edit decisions on the fly when reviewing the files. You can start to favorite or reject clips while you record and then Review, cut and tag in playback mode. Finally, assemble the clips to create a linear playlist of your favorite clips and instantly push them out to live feed for real-time monitoring. Marked in and out points are carried right through to your edit with the export of edit decisions lists in XML that can be imported with clips in to Apple or convert the XML for use in Avid or Adobe.

Fast Act Dual Record Button

The Shogun Studio II features a hardware button on the front panel that helps you set both the channels to start recording. Simply press the button for 4 seconds and reset both channels for recording. When the monitor is connected to any playback source, you can easily switch from playing back clips to dual recording within 10 seconds. Also, in situations where the connected device is not taking time to switch on, the monitor can directly jump to recording from a cold boot within 20 seconds.
