3D LUT Benefit
Broadcasters and filmmakers often encounter issues with washed-out or incorrect colors in SDI sources due to log film gamma or HDR encoding. SmartView 4K addresses this by supporting 3D LUTs, allowing users to remap input colorspaces to the monitor. These LUTs not only correct color issues but also offer creative possibilities. They can be easily uploaded using the SmartView utility, and DaVinci Resolve users can export custom LUTs. With DaVinci Resolve available for free, building a diverse library of 3D LUTs is accessible and cost-effective.
Direct Connection to SMPTE 2110 IP Networks
SmartView 4K enables the creation of modern IP video systems by adhering fully to the SMPTE 2110 standard for IP video, offering optical fiber and copper 10G Ethernet connectivity. SMPTE 2110 outlines the protocols for transporting, synchronizing, and describing video, audio, and ancillary data over IP networks for broadcasting purposes. It encompasses various elements, including support for uncompressed video (SMPTE 2110-20), the Blackmagic IP codec for high-frame-rate Ultra HD, traffic shaping and timing (SMPTE 2110-21), audio transmission (SMPTE 2110-30), and ancillary data support (SMPTE 2110-40). Additionally, SmartView 4K allows the selected video input to be distributed through the 10G Ethernet SMPTE 2110 IP connection, facilitating multicast transmission to multiple destinations.
NMOS Protocol for Virtual Routing
SmartView 4K enables seamless integration with NMOS interface specifications, allowing all 2110 IP video devices to function collectively as a unified virtual router. Additionally, Videohub Smart Control serves as an NMOS controller, facilitating routing from sources to destinations within 2110 IP networks. NMOS outlines the discovery and control protocols for SMPTE 2110 devices on IP networks. SmartView 4K supports IS-04 for device discovery and registration, and IS-05 for connection management among IP video devices. This capability enables users to establish connections between sources and destinations akin to a conventional SDI router.
