Nikon's
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR is a versatile and advanced
multi-purpose zoom lens that offers telephoto imaging with a 35mm focal length
equivalence of 27-210mm. While designed
for DX-format it is compatible with FX-format in crop mode. This lens is an ideal choice for a wide
variety of shooting applications thanks to its encompassing zoom range of 18
-140 mm and its lightweight, compact construction. You will love the power of this lens while
traveling. Nikon packed it with features
including its improved
Vibration Reduction II, a system which minimizes
image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a
shutter speed 3.5 stops faster. An extra-low dispersion (ED) glass and
three aspherical lens elements pair in order to reduce the effects of
distortion and chromatic aberrations.
The Super Integrated Coating helps eliminate ghosting and unwanted flare.
The Silent Wave Motor design means you will always experience smooth and
virtually silent autofocusing without the exterior size of the lens
changing. Full time manual focusing
override is available with the A-M focusing switch. The minimum focus distance is 1.48' and its 7-blade
rounded aperture helps to provide pleasing out-of-focus backgrounds.

EXTRA LOW DISPERSION GLASS (ED)
Nikon's Low Dispersion technology is engineered to reduce chromatic aberrations, eliminating the tendency of light of different colors to focus to different points at the image plane. This means your images will come out crisp and clear, with less of a chance of defracting light into an unwanted rainbow of colors. Take shots exactly like you want, without any flare-up or blurring.
ASPHERICAL DESIGN
Nikon's aspherical lens design creates a more complex surface profile. This helps to greatly reduce spherical and other optical aberrations. The design further ensures consistent imaging performance throughout the entire focal range, while delivering incredible sharpness up to the periphery of the image.
INTERNAL FOCUSING (IF)
Nikon's Internal Focusing feature allows you to focus a lens without changing its size. With IF Lenses all optical movement is restricted to the interior of the lens barrel, providing for a lighter, more efficient design. Faster focusing is produced by a lighter and compact focusing lens group.
A-M SWITCH
This switch is an element which locks the focus ring during autofocus, allowing the behavior to mimic a manual focus lens in manual focus mode. When the focusing ring is rotated with a sufficient load you will experience convenient manual focusing maneuvers.
SUPER INTEGRATED COATING
The Nikon anti-reflective coating is an optical design feature which ensures superior clarity and image brilliance, even in poor or unfavorable lighting conditions. Nikon applies the anti-reflective coating through a special process, layering the lens surface in order to substantially reduce unwanted flare or ghosting.
