Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art Lens with High Sharpness and Water-Resistant Design (Sony E-Mount)

Sigma's flagship lens, the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art, represents a significant evolution from its predecessor, integrating state-of-the-art technologies across design and production. Compared to its forerunner, the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art boasts enhanced resolving power across its zoom range and introduces practical upgrades like an aperture ring and high-speed AF driven by a redesigned AF motor, HLA (High-response Linear Actuator). Moreover, it's notably more compact and lighter, approximately 7 percent smaller and 10 percent lighter. This versatile 24-70mm F2.8 Art zoom empowers both photographers and filmmakers to unleash their creative potential with its outstanding performance.
Flagship-Worthy Performance
The Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art succeeds the acclaimed Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art, renowned for its exceptional optical prowess, and elevates resolution across its zoom span. Delivering impressive sharpness even wide open, this lens ensures consistent image quality, particularly on high-resolution cameras. Prioritizing rendering performance, its wide aperture of F2.8 yields expansive, captivating bokeh, enabling users to harness the full potential of a flagship lens across diverse visual expressions. Boasting advanced close-up capabilities, flare and ghosting resistance, and minimal focus breathing, it guarantees optimal image capture in every scenario.
Optical Performance Turned to Max
The lens's optical configuration incorporates 6 FLD glass elements, 2 SLD glass elements, and 5 aspherical lens elements, meticulously engineered to mitigate diverse aberrations across the zoom spectrum. Notably, sagittal coma flare is effectively managed, ensuring enduring high resolution even at the image's edges. Furthermore, by adeptly addressing lateral chromatic aberration, the lens delivers impeccably rendered, high-resolution images devoid of color fringing.
5 Aspherical Lenses Integrated Top of Form
Leveraging 5 high-precision aspherical lenses, this lens achieves exceptional optical performance while maintaining a compact design by effectively correcting aberrations. Sigma's exclusive manufacturing facility, the Aizu factory, employs cutting-edge aspherical molding technology to craft thin, highly polarized aspherical lenses crucial for this lens's construction. This advancement provides greater flexibility in optical design, empowering creators with enhanced creative possibilities.
Top of FormIdeal for Close-Ups
Boasting outstanding close-up performance, the lens features a minimum focusing distance of 6.7 inches at the wide end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7. This proves invaluable for capturing detailed close-up shots of subjects, especially in confined spaces where achieving optimal distance from the subject is challenging.
Top of FormMinimal Flaring and Ghosting
Advanced simulation technology has effectively minimized flare and ghosting, preserving image quality and ensuring the lens delivers rich, high-contrast results across various shooting conditions. Nano Porous Coating and Super Multi-layer Coating further suppress flare and ghosting, guaranteeing optimal performance. With high backlight resistance, the lens produces clear and sharp images regardless of lighting conditions.
Made to Minimize Focus Breathing
The lens is meticulously engineered to minimize focus breathing, ensuring minimal change in angle of view throughout the entire zoom range. This results in smooth and natural focus transitions during video recording, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
Portable and Feature-Packed
The Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art boasts a sleeker physique, being approximately 7 percent smaller and 10 percent lighter than its predecessor. Enhancing usability, it now incorporates an aperture ring and two AFL buttons. Despite its compact form and added features, the lens upholds Sigma's reputation for outstanding build quality, ensuring the precision and durability demanded by professional photographers.
Portable Body
Although the lens maintains the same number of lens elements as its predecessor, its overall length has been reduced through an advanced optical design. Furthermore, a more efficient mechanical layout has yielded a remarkably portable lens body.
Quality Build
While prioritizing a reduction in both size and weight, the lens achieves durability through the integration of metal parts in the zoom extension unit and other components, alongside a sturdy internal structure. This design ensures rigidity during various operations, such as adjusting the ring, pressing buttons, and handling the lens. By emphasizing longevity and reliability, the lens emerges as a trusted tool, striking a balance between compactness and robustness that solely pursuing a lightweight build cannot achieve.
Integrated Aperture Ring
The lens features an aperture ring, accompanied by an aperture ring click switch and an aperture ring lock switch, providing flexibility in aperture adjustments tailored to different shooting scenarios.
Dual AFL Buttons
The lens now includes two AFL buttons, offering expanded functionality assignable via the camera's menu, one more than its predecessor. In addition to the side placement, the extra button is conveniently positioned on the top, facilitating easy operation when holding the camera vertically. It's important to note that function assignment is supported only on compatible cameras, and the available functions may vary depending on the camera model.
