SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art Lens with Durable Construction and High-Speed Autofocus (Sony E-Mount)
The SIGMA 28 to 105mm F2.8 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E-Mount is
more than the conventional zoom lens. Thanks to the powerful
wide-angle to medium telephoto focal length and a bright F2.8 aperture
throughout, this full-frame mirrorless zoom combines outstanding optical performance,
superb build quality, and a slew of pro-grade features to make it one of the
most versatile optics available for mirrorless cameras. The lens is designed to
handle a wide range of subjects and situations, from broad low-light landscapes
to portraits with large, beautiful bokeh, and it does so with exceptional
clarity and sharpness thanks to SIGMA's cutting-edge optical technology and the
use of large diameter elements such as FLD, SLD, and five aspherical elements. This
allows the lens to offer extraordinary adaptability without sacrificing optical
quality. The lens also features high-speed AF with HLA technology, a durable
dust- and splash-resistant structure, and several features like as an aperture
ring, all housed in a compact and lightweight body weighing less than 2.2 lbs,
making it an excellent all-around pick for both images and videos.
Uninterrupted F2.8 Aperture
Most traditional zoom lenses with a reach of up to 105mm do not have a
continuous F2.8 aperture and typically drop to F4 at the long end. However, the
SIGMA 28 to 105mm F2.8 DG DN Art provides the same excellent light-gathering
and depth-of-field benefits throughout the focal range. The lens provides all
of this, as well as extraordinarily excellent optical performance, thanks to
the complete suppression of optical aberrations within each lens group. When
zoomed in, it also has excellent close-focusing capabilities, allowing for
macro-style effects.
Versatile Aperture for Low-Light Images
Thanks to its fast aperture across the whole focal range, the SIGMA 28 to
105mm F2.8 DG DN Art is a genuine workhorse lens suitable for nearly any form
of photography. Scenic photographers can capture wide-angle landscapes with the
F2.8 aperture for low-light situations and twilight cityscape views, while the
medium focal lengths are ideal for dimly lit documentary and street subjects,
allowing shutter speeds one stop faster than similar lenses. Popular
portrait focal lengths of 85mm and 105mm, combined with an F2.8 maximum
aperture, give a shallow depth-of-field that effectively isolates a subject
against a huge and lovely bokeh.
Excellent Close-Ups
The SIGMA 28 to 105mm F2.8 DG DN Art has a minimum focus distance of only 40cm
over its entire zoom range, allowing you to get closer to your subject while
filling the frame with detail and richness. At 105mm, this produces a very
useful maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.1, ideal for powerful macro-style
effects.
Excellent Optical Performance
The SIGMA 28 to 105mm F2.8 DG DN Art performs flawlessly, successfully
suppressing aberrations within each lens group and over the whole zoom and
focal range. This guarantees that the lens performs consistently even over a
long zoom range. The lens's premium optical design includes two FLD, one SLD,
and five aspherical elements. The first group uses a large-diameter
phi 66.4mm element, which is extremely difficult to produce and only
available thanks to SIGMA's advanced manufacturing technology at its sole
production base in Aizu, Japan.
Minimal Flaring and Ghosting
Flare and ghosting have been largely removed by advanced
simulation technology, ensuring that the lens produces rich, high-contrast
images in any settings. Additionally, SIGMA's Nano Porous Coating and Super
Multi-Layer Coating have been used to reduce flare and ghosting.
Reduced Focus Breathing
The lens has been engineered with minimal focus breathing, which is
critical for filmmakers who require constant framing. This ensures that any
angle-of-view changes caused by focus shift are minimized over the zoom range,
resulting in natural-looking focus pulls when recording video and easier image
alignment when focus stacking.
Lightweight and Portable
Standard zooms should be tiny and light enough for all-day handheld shooting,
hence the SIGMA 28 to 105mm F2.8 DG DN Art was created with mobility in mind.
It combines five aspherical elements efficiently in place to minimize the total
length, as well as a magnesium-alloy construction surrounding the mount,
allowing the lens to weigh less than 2.2 lbs. This guarantees that the lens has
the same portability as shorter normal zoom lenses while offering a greater
zoom range.
Streamlined Body
By including five aspherical elements into its optical design, SIGMA was able
to considerably reduce the lens's overall length while maintaining sharpness
and image quality. This superior arrangement was only feasible because to
constant technological innovation and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques at
SIGMA's single production facility in Aizu, Japan.
Excellent Autofocus and Superior Build Quality
Aside from the high-speed AF provided by its linear motor HLA
(High-response Linear Actuator), the SIGMA 28 to 105mm F2.8 DG DN Art includes
a number of features that help offer the best possible results in any shooting
circumstance. These include a dust- and splash-resistant structure and a water-
and oil-repellent coating, as well as a zoom lock switch, a de-clickable
aperture ring, AFL buttons, and a focus ring for easy operation, including Manual
Focus photography.
