Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Sigma Mount
This Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 is a speedy telezoom designed specifically for Sigma APS-C bodies, providing 75-150mm equivalent range. Part of the Sigma Global Vision Art Line, the 50-100mm 1.8 is the second lens to feature a 1.8 aperture all the way through it focal length. Features include a constant f/1.8 aperture throughout the zoom, a redesigned Hyper Sonic Motor (30% slimmer) and the same high level of engineering that produces the angle-of-view, shallow depth-of-field and light gathering capabilities. f/1.8 on APS-C gives you around the depth-of-field control of F2.7 on full-frame. That makes Sigma's 18-35/1.8 and 50-100/1.8 roughly equivalent to 27-53/2.7 and 75-150/2.7 lenses on full-frame, in terms of both DOF and noise (in low light) control. Like all SGV lenses, this lens works with the Sigma USB Dock to update firmware and focus calibrate. For some photographers, this lens will go a long way in addressing some inherent disadvantages of the smaller sensor format. Complementing the imaging capabilities is a refined physical construction with internal focus and zoom mechanisms to limit the overall length of the lens during use. The ability to maintain focus along with a Hyper Sonic that provides bright and accurate AF throughout the entire range, this Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 zoom lens is also ideal for videographers.
Art Lens
Engineered for those who see photography as an expression of self, Sigma’s Art line offers sophisticated optical performance and abundant expressive power to deliver faithfully on your artistic vision.
DC for Digital
These are special lenses designed for APS-C size sensors so that the image circle matches the smaller size of the image sensor of most digital SLR cameras. Their specialized design gives these lenses the ideal properties for digital cameras, the compact and lightweight construction is an added bonus!
Quiet and Fast Autofocusing
HSM lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.
Inner Focus
To ensure stability in focusing, this lens moves the inner lens group without changing the lens’ physical length.
Bright, APS-C Format Mid-tele Zoom Lens
SIGMA was determined to create a zoom lens that offers the same brightness and resolution as a fixed focal length lens: in other words, the highest level of optical performance and expressive power. The first result of this challenge was the SIGMA 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM | Art. In addition to fulfilling the exacting requirements of SIGMA’s Art line, this lens was the world’s first APS-C zoom for DSLRs to offer a constant f/1.8 aperture value throughout the zoom range. Building on this concept, SIGMA has developed the new SIGMA 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM | Art lens, a large-diameter mid-range telephoto zoom lens. While offering even greater brightness than a f/2.8 telephoto zoom, this lens covers the focal lengths of three prime lenses in one package: 85mm f/1.8, 105mm f/1.8, and 135 mm f/1.8 (35mm equivalent). A true game-changer, this lens is ideal for portraits with subtle bokeh effects and more, and it sets a new standard for zoom lens image quality.
Impressive Sharpness and Contrast
Three premium F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements and one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element markedly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range. Additionally, one high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass element controls spherical aberrations for increased clarity and sharpness.
