Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS E-Mount Prime Lens

Sony's 35mm f/1.8 OSS Alpha E-mount Prime Lens is a powerful prime lens for Sony 35mm cameras. It is a compact, fixed focal length lens and offers a 35mm equivalent of 52.5mm. The quick, constant f/1.8 aperture makes this lens ideal capturing fast moving subjects with little blur or even for retaining crisp, sharp imaging in low light conditions.  A quiet linear motor controls focus while an in-lens stepping motor controls aperture. The two work in harmony in order to facilitate virtually silent lens action, a big advantage when shooting video. Direct Manual Focus is also featured which allows for fine manual focus control and is operable even in autofocus mode. Sony loaded this lens with Improved optics to combat spherical aberration and provide uniform contrast across the sensor.

Lens-Based Optical Image Stabilization

Extra Low Dispersion Glass (ED)

Internal Focusing (IF)

Only the middle groups of the optical system move to achieve focus, so the overall length of the lens does not change. Other important benefits include fast autofocusing and a short minimum focusing distance. Also, the filter thread at the front of the lens does not rotate, which is convenient if you're using a polarizing filter.

Aspherical Elements

Sony's aspherical lens design creates a more complex surface profile, while also reducing lens size and weight. Specially shaped aspherical elements near the diaphragm restore alignment of light rays at the image plane, translating to high sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture. Well-designed aspherical elements can reduce the total number of elements required in the lens, thus reducing overall size and weight. The design further ensures consistent imaging performance throughout the entire focal range, while delivering incredible sharpness up to the periphery of the image. 

Circular Aperture

The circular aperture of this Sony 35mm 1.8 e-mount lens creates pleasing natural Bokeh effects. While Conventional aperture blades have flat sides creating unappealing polygonal shaped defocused points of light.
