Zeiss Optics SFL 8x40 Compact and Waterproof Binoculars for Adults

ZEISS is excited to introduce the ZEISS SFL 40, the newest member of the ZEISS SF line of binoculars. The ZEISS SFL (SmartFocus and Lightweight) provides exceptional optical performance combined with a compact and lightweight design. The new binoculars come in two models, the ZEISS SFL 8x40 and 10x40, and allow users to experience nature with incredible ease.

Lightweight and Compact Design

During long outdoor trips, the equipment you need can be a burden to carry, as every little ounce can add up. In developing the SFL 40 Binocular, Zeiss wanted to develop binoculars that provide excellent image quality, while being lightweight, compact and adaptable. Thanks to the reduced lens diameter, the use of thinner and more closely spaced lens elements, and the rugged and durable magnesium housing, the ZEISS SFL 40 is an exceptionally lightweight yet reliable companion. 

Color Fidelity and Sharpness of Detail 

The new Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) concept offers exceptional color fidelity and high image resolution thanks to the perfect combination of optimized lens coatings and a sophisticated optical design for a truly natural and detailed nature experience. The 90% light transmission and the T* multicoating deliver an impressive image, even in twilight conditions. ZEISS’s proprietary FieldFlattener technology provides edge-to-edge clarity, with a wide field of view of up to 420 feet at 1,000 yards for the 8x40 model. Adding in a close focusing distance of 4.9 feet, the binoculars deliver an incredible combination for viewing up close as well as at a distance. “Combining high image resolution and precise detail recognition, the ZEISS SFL allows nature observers to distinguish between even the smallest features in plumage and reliably identify different species,” Kunad reports. This is complemented by the LotuTec® coating on the lenses, which guarantees a clear view even in rain and mud thanks to its beading effect.  

Simple, Intuitive Operation with Perfect Ergonomics 

When observing nature, sometimes a few seconds is the difference between missing or observing a memorable moment. Thanks to the proven SmartFocus concept and the ideally positioned focusing wheel, users can focus quickly and precisely, even when wearing gloves. Using only 1.4 rotations to go from close focus to infinity, the SFL is the perfect combination between speed and precision. In combination with the improved eyecups and the very large exit pupil in relation to the binoculars’ compact size, the ZEISS SFL delivers a comfortable viewing experience, even in twilight.
