Canon RF50mm f1.4 L VCM Lens with Manual Iris Ring, 67mm Filter Thread, and Nano USM (Canon RF)
The Canon RF50mm F1.4 L VCM Lens is one Canon's Hybrid lens series especially designed for still-image and video shooters. This lens combines wide-angle coverage with a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, and offers unbeatable image quality. It delivers a standard-angle look on a full-frame camera. The lens features a dedicated manual Iris ring, and has a linear focus motor called a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) which does not make noise while at work. The VCM partners with a Nano USM (Ultrasonic Motor) on the floating focus unit to offer unmatched fast autofocus. The lens boasts minimal focus breathing, thereby cutting down viewer distractions while prioritizing the imagery and story.
Of a Different League
Apart from the dedicated iris control ring and VCM, you can attach filters to this lens on its 67mm screw thread on the front. It further allows for screw-on filters. The back of the lens features a cut gel filter holder (bundled) as well. There is a control ring and a control button both of which can be assigned with functions. The lens is dust and weather-resistant, and features two aspheric lenses, and ASC (Air Sphere Coating), SSC (Super Spectra Coating), and Fluorine Coating. These additions substantially reduce ghosting and flare.
High-Quality Images
The Canon RF lens mount, the RF50mm F1.4 L VCM lens features an optical design that includes two UD lenses and one aspherical lens as well as Air Sphere Coating (ASC), and Super Spectra Coating (SSC), this reduces ghosting, and the Fluorine coating on the front and rear lens surfaces keep smudges at bay. The lens is also dust- and water-resistant as other L-series lenses. It has seals around the control ring, focus ring, zoom ring, operation panel, and lens mount.
Part of the New Age Hybrid Lens
The RF50mm F1.4 L VCM lens is part of a new family of 'hybrid' lenses that Canon has to offer. It has a manual iris control ring enabling you to smoothly change the aperture from f/1.4 to f/16 during video capture.
With minimal focus breathing and sharp backlit images, the lens is a must-have for your camera kit.
Addition of Nano USM Technology
The lens features a Nano USM that controls the floating focus unit. It also has a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) that powers the rear focus unit. VCM holds its position, so every time the camera is off, or the lens is not attached to a camera, you may hear and feel slight movement. The extra cushioning inside the lens helps to prevent damage in this situation.
Minimal Focus Distance
The lens features a minimum focus distance of just 9.4 inches. Add to it an f/1.4 aperture, and you can capture some images that are sure to stun.
