The RED Digital Cinema V-RAPTOR 8K S35 brings full 8K acquisition to the Super 35 format in the compact DSMC3 camera body. Its 35.4 MP CMOS sensor captures 8192 x 4320 and delivers 16.5+ stops of dynamic range. That combination gives narrative, wildlife, documentary, broadcast, and live production teams the resolution of 8K while retaining the lens choices and field of view associated with Super 35 production.
8K Super 35 Capture and High Frame Rates
REDCODE RAW records up to 120 fps at 8K 17:9 and 150 fps at 8K 2.4:1. Frame rates extend to 240 fps at 4K 17:9, 320 fps at 3K 17:9, and 600 fps at 2K 2.4:1 for slow motion work. REDCODE HQ, MQ, and LQ provide compression choices across supported formats, while Apple ProRes recording is available in resolutions up to 4096 x 2160. Qualified CFexpress Type B media supports data rates up to 800 MB/s.
REDCODE RAW and IPP2 Color
R3D recording preserves 16 bit RAW sensor data so ISO, white balance, and other color decisions remain adjustable in post production instead of being permanently baked into the recorded image. RED IPP2 color management supports 33 x 33 x 33 3D LUTs and CDL workflows, giving camera teams a consistent path from set monitoring through editorial, color, and final delivery.
RF Lens Mount and Compact DSMC3 Body
The integrated RF mount supports compatible RF lenses and Canon EF lenses through compatible RF to EF adapters. Phase detection and contrast autofocus are available with supported lenses. The aluminum alloy body measures 6 x 4.25 x 4.25 inches and weighs about 4 lb without the body cap and CFexpress card, keeping the camera practical for handheld builds, gimbals, wildlife rigs, remote positions, and larger production configurations.
Professional Monitoring, Sync, and Remote Control
Dual 12G SDI outputs support monitoring up to 4096 x 2160 at 60p with 10 bit 4:2:2 output. The integrated 9 pin EXT port handles genlock, timecode input, GPIO, and RS 232 control. USB C and compatible Gigabit Ethernet adapters support wired camera control, live MJPEG preview, and remote media offload. Wireless camera control and live preview are available through RED Control, while the 5 pin audio port supports dual channel mic, line, and 48 V input at 24 bit 48 kHz.
Production Pack for V Lock Workflows
This Production Pack expands the camera into a working V Lock configuration with the DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0 inch LCD, RED PRO CFexpress media and reader, REDVOLT Micro V batteries with a dual charger, Tactical Top Plate with Battery Adapter Plus, Top Handle with Extensions, Expander Blade, Quick Release Platform Pack, 5 pin to dual XLR adapter, Side Rib, Production Plate, Production Grip, and camera power accessories. The integrated V Lock battery interface is optimized for Micro V Lock batteries, giving crews a compact power path for mobile and built out camera packages.
