The new PENTAX WG-90 all-weather adventure compact camera is proudly announced by Ricoh Imaging. Now available under the PENTAX brand, which is renowned throughout the industry for creating dustproof, waterproof, and weather-resistant products, are the WG series all-weather adventure cameras, which are noted for their tough chassis in addition to waterproof and shock-resistant features. Because of its crushproof, freezeproof, waterproof, and shockproof design, the WG-90 offers exceptional dependability and functionality even in challenging environments where regular smartphones and compact cameras might become useless. It has a large, outdoor-friendly wide-frame LCD monitor, a 5X optical zoom lens that covers an area roughly equivalent to 28 to 140mm in the 35mm format, a high-performance imaging engine, and an effective 16 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor. Its upgraded underwater modes for both still and video capture maximize color and contrast, which are typically lost in underwater photography, to produce clear, lifelike images. Additionally, it has an integrated ring light with programmable brightness levels that powers the PENTAX original Digital Microscope mode, enabling the user to take crisp, colorful pictures of a microscopic world that is typically invisible to the human eye. The WG-90, available in black, can be used for a variety of situations and topics, from informal photos to outdoor and underwater photography, as well as specific worksite applications.
Body Construction with Durability
The WG-90's solid, airtight body is not only waterproof down to 14 meters (46 feet) for up to two hours of continuous operation (equivalent to IPX 8 or JIS Class 8), but it is also shockproof against falls from a height of 1.6 meters (5 feet), dustproof (equivalent to IPX 6 or JIS Class 6), freeze-proof to temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celsius, and crushproof against weights up to 100kgf (kilogram force). Because of this heavy-duty construction, the camera performs admirably and consistently even in harsh, demanding outdoor conditions. 
Top-Notch Quality Image
The WG-90 features a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, which ensures excellent high-sensitivity and low-noise characteristics, as well as fast readout of image data signals. When combined with a high-performance imaging engine, this image sensor achieves a maximum sensitivity of ISO 6400 and super-high-resolution images with approximately 16.0 effective megapixels. It also includes advanced image processing functions enabled by super resolution technology, which ensures sharp, clear, and high-resolution images. It even has innovative features like Handheld Night Snap mode, which automatically creates a single, blur-free composite image from multiple images of the same nighttime scene.
Multiple Functioned Six Macro Lights for Assisting Close-Up Shooting 
Six LED Macro Lights are ideally positioned around the circumference of the lens barrel for macro shooting, providing bright, uniform illumination on a subject when the Digital Microscope mode is selected to magnify a given subject on the LCD monitor, closely observe the microscopic world undetectable with the naked eye, and capture the subject in a high-resolution macro image. In the Macro Lighting mode, adjust the illumination intensity in five levels to optimize close-range flash photography based on the subject or the photographer's creative intent. To reduce the effects of camera shake and subject movement, the Instant Illumination Enhance function allows for a faster shutter speed by automatically raising the discharge level of the Macro Lights at the time of shutter release. The Self-Portrait Assist the method applies the blinking of an LED lamp to guarantee that the face of the subject is safely captured within the frame of the image, whereas the LED Lighting mode uses the Macro Lights as an illumination tool in darkness.
Outdoor View Setting Mode for the 2.7-Inch LCD Monitor
The WG-90 features a 2.7-inch LCD monitor with horizontally extended 16:9 proportions and approximately 230,000 dots. The monitor's (Anti-Reflection) coating reduces annoying glare and reflections, ensuring a sharp, clear on-screen image even in the harsh sunlight commonly encountered during outdoor shooting. The Outdoor View Setting mode automatically optimizes the monitor's brightness level for a given lighting condition, improving the visibility of the on-screen image. This 5X zooming lens has 28mm broad-angle coverage. 
Shooting Mode for Underwater
The WG-90 has a high-performance, five-times optical zoom lens with a focal-length coverage of 5mm to 25mm (approx. 28mm to 140mm in the 35mm format), allowing it to capture a wide range of scenes and subjects, including expansive landscapes. It also includes a macro mode for capturing dramatic close-up images with a minimum focusing distance of one centimeter; an Intelligent Zoom function that extends the zoom range to approximately 36 times (equivalent to 1008mm in the 35mm format) for super-high-magnification telephotography with no giving up image quality; and an interval shooting mode for fixed-point photography.
Extended Shooting of High-Quality Movies in Full HD Movie Recording 
The WG-90 supports Full HD movie recording using the H.264 format. Users can record high-quality extended movie clips (1920 x 1080 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio) at a frame rate of 30 frames per second.
