The RED Digital Cinema KOMODO-X Z Mount combines a 19.9 MP Super 35 global shutter sensor, native Nikon Z lens control, REDCODE RAW recording, and connected production tools in a compact cinema body. Its 6144 x 3240 sensor delivers 16.5 plus stops of dynamic range, while global shutter capture exposes the full frame simultaneously to help preserve image geometry during fast subject movement, camera motion, visual effects work, and synchronized multi camera production.
6K REDCODE RAW and ProRes Recording
KOMODO-X records REDCODE RAW at up to 80 fps in 6K 17:9, 96 fps in 5K 17:9, 120 fps in 4K 17:9, and 240 fps in 2K 17:9. Qualified CFexpress Type B media supports data rates up to 560 MB/s. Dedicated Apple ProRes recording is also available in 4K, including ProRes 4444 XQ up to 60 fps, ProRes 4444 up to 80 fps, and ProRes 422 HQ, 422, and 422 LT up to 120 fps. IPP2 color management supports 33 x 33 x 33 3D LUTs and CDL adjustments for controlled monitoring and post production workflows.
Locking Nikon Z Mount and Electronic Lens Control
The integrated locking Nikon Z Mount supports all Z Mount lenses and electronic communication with compatible optics. Camera controlled functions include iris, autofocus, image stabilization, and control ring operation where supported by the lens. Adjustable autofocus behavior and assignable lens controls help tailor the camera to cinema use, while compatible RED Z to PL adapters extend the platform to supported /i PL lenses.
Monitoring, Audio, and Connected Production
An integrated 12G SDI output supports monitoring up to 4096 x 2160 4:2:2 at 60p, while the 2.9 inch 1440 x 1440 touchscreen provides onboard preview and camera control. Dual band Wi-Fi and Ethernet over USB Type C support camera control, video preview, media offload, and a 1080p MJPEG live stream. PTP synchronization, tri level genlock, LTC timecode, and RS 232 control support coordinated multi camera and virtual production systems. A locking 5 pin audio input supports mic, line, and 48 V phantom power, alongside integrated dual channel microphones and a 3.5 mm headphone output.
Compact DSMC3 Body and Flexible Power
The aluminum alloy body measures 5.1 inches long by 4 inches wide by 3.8 inches high and weighs approximately 2.62 lb without the body cap and CFexpress card. An integrated V-Lock interface is optimized for Micro V-Lock batteries, while the 6 pin DC input accepts 11 to 17 V DC for studio and rig based power. The compact body, locking Z Mount, global shutter sensor, high frame rate recording, and IP connectivity make KOMODO-X adaptable to handheld, gimbal, studio, remote, and multi camera configurations.
