Ricoh Imaging introduces the RICOH GR IIIx HDF, an evolution of the acclaimed RICOH GR IIIx. This premium compact camera boasts a newly developed Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF), enhancing image creativity. With its one-touch activation, the HDF softens highlights, imparting a nostalgic, film-like quality to photos. Users can achieve diverse visual effects, from high-resolution precision to softer, emotive imagery, thanks to the HDF's versatility. Additionally, the camera debuts a Zone Select AF function, automating focus adjustment based on user-defined zones, and offers three pre-programmable white balance settings. These features extend to the entire RICOH GR IIIx series through firmware updates. The GR IIIx HDF features a lens construction of 6 elements in 4 groups, including 2 aspherical elements, with a focal length of 26.1mm (40mm equivalent) and an aperture range of F2.8-F16. Its focus range spans from 0.2m to infinity in Normal mode and 0.12m-0.24m in Macro mode.
Highlight Diffusion Filter
The latest model integrates the innovative HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) to enhance highlights, yielding soft, mellowed images. Leveraging RICOH's advanced inkjet technology, this filter diffuses highlights, creating a gentle blur along edges for a nostalgic, film-like effect. Easily toggled with a single action, HDF offers users seamless transition between two distinct visual styles: the trademark crisp, focused images of the RICOH GR series, and the softer, expressive tones produced by HDF, providing flexibility to suit various subjects and creative visions.
Valuable Updates
The Fn (Function) button's default setting now activates the HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) with a single press, facilitating quick engagement. Additionally, the shutter-release button's dark silver color distinguishes HDF models from other GR series, symbolizing effortless visual expression adjustment.
White Balance and Zone Select AF
Users can pre-program three white balance settings and fine-tune them using the White Balance Fine Adjustment function. Additionally, the new models include Zone Select AF, which adjusts focus automatically based on the selected zone within the image area after shifting the focus area to the desired 3X3 zone.
