Sigma 65mm F2 DG Full-Frame Contemporary Lens with Manual Aperture Ring (Black, L Mount)
Mirrorless systems now provide fresh value with the Sigma 65mm F2 DG Contemporary Lens in Black for L Mount, a full-frame compatible lens. Excellent optical performance combined with a level of portability that is ideal for lighter and more compact contemporary mirrorless cameras will open up new possibilities for the ideal shot. The Sigma 65mm F2 DG Contemporary matches the newest high-resolution mirrorless cameras with its ultra-high resolving power and outstanding optical performance. With its silent, high-speed stepping motor, the AF drive system can be used for both still and video photography.
Setting a New Contemporary Benchmark
With a lens body the size of a mirrorless system, the 65mm F2 DG Contemporary offers the best optical performance at a maximum aperture of F2. Sharp details can be captured by using SLD glass to completely correct axial chromatic aberration, which is often evident with medium and telephoto lenses and cannot be successfully minimized in-camera. In addition to helping to reduce the size of the lens configuration, a pair of glass-molded aspherical lenses are utilized to correct astigmatism and spherical and comatic aberration. The 65mm F2 DG Contemporary's outstanding optical performance and small size are the result of a mix of cutting-edge processing technology and the most recent optical design. Reduced vignetting effects help prevent swirly or lemon-shaped bokeh and allow photographers more control over the out-of-focus parts of their photos, in addition to the lovely bokeh effect made possible by the management of spherical aberration. Furthermore, the Sigma-standard anti-flare and anti-ghosting technology guarantees excellent performance in backlit environments.
Precise Aspherical Glass Molded Lens
The surfaces of molds used for glass molding must be extremely precise. Sigma achieves this by employing high-precision molds with surface control to an accuracy of plus and minus 5 nanometers (0.000005 mm) or less. These precise aspherical glass-molded lenses offer excellent aberration correction while maintaining a compact lens design.
Superior Quality in a Compact Size
Every lens in the I series is made entirely of metal. In addition to giving the barrel a sleek, fashionable appearance, the precision-cut aluminum components offer exceptional longevity, raising the caliber of the finished product. For increased durability, interior structures that slide with the operating ring are also made of metal. These high-precision parts, which are made using Sigma's state-of-the-art metalworking technology, are also utilized in the company's Cine Lens line for professional filmmakers. They offer a beautiful tactile feel and sound effects that entice photographers to reach for and play with them repeatedly. Hairline processing, which is also utilized for the Art line's rear cylinder, is applied to the cover ring, which is situated between the focus and aperture rings. When the lens is attached or detached, this covering serves as a finger grip.
Magnetic Metal Lens Cover
Along with a standard plastic cap, the lens comes with a specially designed magnetic metal lens cover. This unique metal cap securely attaches to the front of the lens via magnets. It can be confidently stated that this carefully designed cap serves as the perfect final detail for the lens.
Inner Focus System
Moveable internal lens components that change focus without affecting lens barrel length are used in this lens' construction to improve stability.
Lens Aberration Correction Compatibility
In order to further improve image quality, this feature adjusts chromatic aberrations, distortion, peripheral lighting, and other issues in-camera while matching the optical properties of the lens.
Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating
By blocking internal reflections, Sigma's proprietary Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting. This original technology is present in every lens in the current Sigma lineup. In digital cameras, reflections between the surfaces of the lens and image sensor can also result in flare and ghosting. Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating works incredibly well here, delivering images with exceptional contrast.
Aperture Ring and Focus Mode Switch
The purpose of the aperture ring is to facilitate intuitive operation. The focus mode can be changed from AF to MF by using the Focus Mode switch.
Linear and Non-linear Focus
A mirrorless lens focus movement technique for mirrorless cameras in connection to the focus ring's rotational angle during manual focusing. The degree of focal point movement with 'non-linear focus' changes according to the speed at which the focus ring rotates. With linear focus, the amount of focal point movement is independent of the focus ring rotational speed as long as the focus ring rotational angle stays constant.
Stepping Motor
In addition to supporting Face and Eye Detection AF and video AF, the lens can achieve smooth, silent, and fast AF thanks to a stepping motor. Rubber sealing is incorporated into the lens mount to shield it from water and dust.
Other Highlights
The lens features a rounded diaphragm and high-speed autofocus compatibility. It works with the Sigma USB DOCK UD-11 (L-Mount only, sold separately) and has a high-precision, durable brass bayonet mount. Supporting DMF and AF plus MF, it is designed to minimize flare and ghosting. Each lens undergoes Sigma's proprietary MTF measuring system and includes a magnetic metal lens cap. Crafted in Aizu, Japan.
