For That Professional Cinematic Look
The latest entry to our Cinema Line, the FX2 delivers newfound versatility by combining the high-quality imagery produced by a full-frame sensor with expressive capabilities modelled on Sony’s flagship VENICE cinema camera, enabling you to bring your creative visions to life through video or photos.
Cinematic Expression with a Full-frame Sensor
The full-frame FX2 delivers stunning cinematic imagery with high resolution and beautiful bokeh. Its back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, paired with the BIONZ XR image processing engine, provides high sensitivity, wide latitude, and 33 MP resolution, catering to ambitious filmmakers.
Outstanding Image Quality
The FX2’s full-frame sensor captures footage with 15+ stops of latitude when recording in S-Log3, ensuring that high-contrast scenes are detailed. Base ISO for S-Log3 can be set to 800 or 4000, with support for S-Gamut3/S-Gamut3.Cine color gamuts for efficient multi-camera editing.
Log Recording Modes
Choose from Flexible ISO, Cine EI, and Cine EI Quick modes for Log recording, with Cine EI being common in professional filmmaking. This allows for enhanced tonal ranges in post-production while maintaining maximum latitude.
Multiple Recording Formats
Enjoy 7K oversampling for full-frame 4K (QFHD 3840 x 2160) with 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling, using a highly efficient MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 codec.
User LUTs
The FX2 allows importing of up to 16 user LUTs for use during shooting and playback, with the ability to embed the chosen LUT in video metadata.
Creating Moods
Picture Profile presets, including S-Cinetone, can easily adjust colors to create various moods.
Desqueeze Display for Anamorphic Lenses
The FX2 features a desqueeze display mode for monitoring with anamorphic lenses, offering 1.3x and 2.0x settings.
Frame Rate Freedom
With control up to 2.5x slow motion at 4K and 5x at Full HD, the FPS menu inherits features from professional Cinema Line models.
Extensive E-Mount Lens Range
Sony provides over 70 high-performance E-mount lenses, along with microphones and accessories to enhance your projects.
Designed for Solo Shooting
The FX2 combines advanced video features with enhanced still-image options for solo shooting in various situations. Its compact, lightweight design, similar to the FX3 and FX30, includes built-in accessory mount points for easy handheld, gimbal, or drone use.
With AI-powered Real-time Recognition AF, it detects humans, animals, and vehicles, allowing for easy tracking via the monitor. Fine-tuned focus control offers seamless manual focus switching, multiple transition speeds, and visual depth of field information.
The Auto Framing feature automatically tracks subjects when on a tripod, while stabilization modes ensure smooth footage even during fast movements. Switching between MOVIE and STILL modes instantly recalls settings, capturing 33 MP stills at 10 fps, and it offers Log mode for consistent visual quality across photos and videos, facilitating streamlined post-production.
Operability for Professional Filmmaking
The FX2 is designed for professional projects with an efficient production workflow. It features a 3.68 million-dot OLED viewfinder, a BIG6 screen for key MOVIE parameters, and can record continuously up to 4K 59.94p with an internal cooling fan. The NP-FZ100 battery provides up to 100 minutes of video. The XLR Handle Unit XLR-H1 enables four-channel audio through two XLR connectors and streams 4K video at 59.94p via USB or LAN, while supporting multiple card formats and HDMI outputs for external recorders. The Catalyst Browse and Prepare apps allow for easy editing and collaboration, enabling direct uploads to Creators' Cloud.
