The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens is the first full-frame, switchable power zoom/manual zoom lens from Canon. It combines excellent optics and high performance, providing a wide-angle of view in a powerfully versatile lens. The L-series optical performance is highlighted by two Aspheric elements and three Ultra-low Dispersion glass elements. The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ delivers incredible hybrid flexibility, high-speed and quiet focusing, wide-angle performance, in a compact and lightweight design, making it an ideal lens for video and still creators.
Standard-Angle Zoom
The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens’ wide to standard-angle coverage is ideal for getting everything you want into your scene, and still being able to zoom-in for details and close-ups. This zoom range is also convenient for shooting on-the-go, and in tight spaces.
The Power to Zoom
The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens features internal Power Zoom with no need for additional accessories. This feature allows you to rotate the lens zoom ring left, or right to initiate a variable speed (user customizable) powered zooming for smooth and professional looking results. This lens is able to be used with the built-in camera zoom lever on certain EOS camera models such as the video-centric EOS R6 V. New to the RF20-50mm lens is the ability to switch it so it can also be manually operated through the 20-50mm zoom range like a traditional lens. Power Zoom capability also means flexibility with the ability to control zoom away from the camera remotely through the use of the Canon Camera Connect app, or Canon Bluetooth Remotes BR-E1 and BR-E2.
Outstanding Image Quality
The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ features 3 UD elements, and 2 aspherical lenses which achieves high image quality throughout the image from center to the edges while maintaining compactness. The f/4 aperture remains constant throughout the zoom range, making beautiful imagery possible at any focal length throughout its’ 20-50mm range. For reducing ghosting and flare this lens includes Air Sphere Coating (ASC).
Get Up Close
Capture subjects in detail with a maximum magnification of 0.33x (at 50mm), focusing down to 9.4 inches. This enables rich, expressive close-up imagery all from a hybrid lens.
Optical Image Stabilization — Up to 6.0 Stops of Shake Correction
To shoot with less blur even without a tripod handy, the RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ features built-in Optical Image Stabilization, providing up to 6.0 stopsFootnote
1 of shake reduction ideal for indoor or low light shooting. When paired with an EOS R-mount camera that is equipped with In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS), the Coordinated IS provides a shake correction effect of 8 stops at the center, and 8 stops in the corners.
High-Speed, Smooth and Quiet Autofocus and Zooming
The lens features three Canon developed USM motors for quiet, fast, and smooth operation. Two USMs are dedicated to moving the lens groups for zooming, and one is dedicated entirely to focusing. These motors are incredibly small, but produce powerful torque, all while remaining virtually silent.
Compact and Lightweight
Coming in under a pound (0.9 lbs / 420 grams) the RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ is powerfully lightweight and compact, especially for a lens with a power zooming function built-in!
