The NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S gives professional sports and wildlife photographers a flexible 120 to 300mm zoom range with extraordinary image quality comparable to a prime lens. Its built in 1.4x optical teleconverter extends reach to 420mm f/4 without changing your grip or taking your eye off the action. The fast constant f/2.8 maximum aperture helps increase shutter speed to freeze fast action, lower ISO to reduce noise, transform busy backgrounds into beautiful bokeh, and work with available light.
Advanced Optics and Image Stabilization
Meso Amorphous Coat and ARNEO Coat suppress ghosting and flare to preserve clarity, contrast, and color, even in harsh backlighting. The optical system also uses ED glass, Super ED glass, a fluorite element, an SR element, and an aspherical element to help control aberrations. Fluorine Coat repels dust, water droplets, grease, and dirt from the lens surface. Up to 6.5 stops of Vibration Reduction image stabilization supports panning with fast action, slower shutter speeds, and available light. The electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism provides accurate electronic aperture control during continuous shooting.
Fast Focus and Controlled Handling
Silky Swift VCM drives the focus elements with high speed, accuracy, and quietness, while a new control algorithm is optimized for high frame rates. AF scan time is approximately 60 percent shorter at the wide angle end compared with its F Mount predecessor. Internal focusing keeps the lens size unchanged during autofocus, while internal zoom keeps the center of gravity consistent. The center of gravity is positioned nearer to the camera body for more controlled panning. Thinner lens elements, fewer elements, and an optimized lens barrel make the lens approximately 1.5 pounds lighter than its F Mount predecessor with teleconverter attached.
Professional S Line Design
The S Line design combines advanced engineering with flexible controls for demanding shooting situations. A/M Auto Priority Manual Mode allows an easy transition from autofocus to manual focus while reducing unintended switching. Dual filter support accommodates 112 mm screw on front filters and 46 mm slip in rear filters, which can be used individually or together. The tripod collar mounts directly to screw type Arca-Swiss compatible clamps without an additional plate. Nikon Z Mount compatibility, FX format coverage, a 2.5x zoom ratio, and a professional optical design make this lens ready for fast moving sports, wildlife, and other situations where subject distance and composition can change instantly.
