The RED Digital Cinema KOMODO-X Z Mount Power Zoom Pack pairs a compact 6K Super 35 global shutter cinema camera with the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ lens for productions that need fast focal length changes without giving up REDCODE RAW capture or native Nikon Z communication. The 19.9 MP sensor records 6144 x 3240 and delivers 16.5 plus stops of dynamic range, while global shutter capture helps preserve image geometry during fast motion, camera movement, visual effects work, and synchronized multi camera production.
6K REDCODE RAW and High Frame Rate Capture
KOMODO-X records REDCODE RAW at up to 80 fps in 6K 17:9, 96 fps in 5K 17:9, 120 fps in 4K 17:9, and 240 fps in 2K 17:9. Qualified CFexpress Type B media supports data rates up to 560 MB/s, while dedicated Apple ProRes recording is available in 4K for direct editorial workflows. The camera also provides 12G SDI monitoring up to 4K 60p, a 2.9 inch 1440 x 1440 touchscreen, dual band Wi-Fi, Ethernet over USB Type C, PTP synchronization, timecode, genlock, and RED Connect support.
Native Nikon Z Mount Integration
The reinforced locking Nikon Z Mount supports electronic communication with compatible Z lenses and enables camera controlled iris, autofocus, image stabilization, and customizable lens functions where supported. Phase detect and contrast autofocus add focusing flexibility, while the short flange distance also allows additional lens systems through compatible adapters. The camera body retains the compact 5.1 x 4 x 3.8 inch dimensions and weighs approximately 2.62 lb without the body cap or CFexpress card.
NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ Power Zoom Lens
The included NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ covers wide through telephoto framing with a constant f/4 maximum aperture. Its internal zoom mechanism keeps the lens length fixed while zooming and helps limit shifts in the center of gravity, which is useful for gimbals and other balanced camera builds. Power zoom operation offers 11 selectable zoom speeds, while the customizable zoom ring direction and rotation angle allow the lens response to be tailored to the shooting style.
Video Focused Lens Controls
Internal focusing and a stepping motor support smooth autofocus operation, while the optical design is optimized to reduce focus breathing during video capture. The lens accepts 95 mm filters and supports matte boxes, follow focus systems, remote zoom control, and other video accessories. Together, the KOMODO-X Z Mount body and 28-135mm power zoom create a compact cinema package centered on 6K global shutter capture, flexible reframing, and native Nikon Z lens control.
