Z is one form of perfection. A groundbreaking camera that fulfills both image quality supremacy and mobility, PENTAX 645Z is a medium format, interchangeable digital SLR that produces ultra-high-definition images with sense of depth. With a dustproof and weather-resistant mechanism, magnesium alloy cover and a tempered glass display panel, this durable and reliable camera is for photo enthusiasts and professionals who enjoy casual outdoor shooting.
CMOS Image Sensor
Capture everything reflected in the eyes and felt by the heart. The medium-format 43.8 x 32.8mm CMOS image sensor meets the ideals of the photographer. This sensor is approximately 1.7 times larger that the dimension of a full-frame 35 mm format. There are approximately 51.4 million effective pixels. Together with the optical performance of PENTAX 645 lenses, this produces unsurpassed resolution and smooth gradation representations and a three-dimensional feeling and atmosphere that will overwhelm the viewer.
Quick Response and Large Buffer Memory
Exceptional image quality with 51.4 million pixels and quick response that lets you capture decisive moments. Until now, scenes that were not possible to capture on a medium format digital camera can be captured with the excellent response of the PENTAX 645Z. Because autofocus, image processing, Instant Review display and memory card writing have been enhanced, you will experience significantly faster operation. The continuous shooting level has also increased for a comfortable shooting tempo when capturing portraits and moving subjects.
Live View and Tiltable LCD Monitor
The Live View function is new to the PENTAX 645Z, freeing the photographer's eye from the viewfinder. With this feature you can carefully prepare for shooting, making it perfect for scenic or studio photography where you need to wait for the right moment to activate the shutter. The screen is also equipped with a tilt mechanism so waist-level, high- and low-angle shots are easy to frame and capture.
Medium Format Digital Imaging
The world of mastery offered by medium format digital imaging far outperforms 35mm full-frame cameras. Professional photographers will appreciate the extended image area offered by the 645Z, which offers a distinct perspective not found in full frame cameras.
Awe inspiring, true-to-life detail is attained by combining premium resolution, massive sensor size and an expansive sensitivity range. This combination far exceeds the expectations of full frame cameras and produces brilliant results only experienced with medium format photography. So much depth and clarity, you feel like you are in the image.
Uncompromising Image Processing Technology
Uncompromising image processing technology allows realistic capture. The three dimensional depth captured with the 645Z can be discovered in even the smallest detail, where a full-frame camera would have given flat results.
Due to the size of the sensor, the 645Z utilizes lenses with a longer focal length and larger diameter when compared to full frame lenses with an equivalent field-of-view. The result is that in identical conditions, the higher resolving power of the 645Z lenses sends significantly more detailed information to the image sensor than a full frame lens. This superior image detail is perfectly captured with the 645Z’s 51,400,000 pixels.
The hyper resolution of the 645Z coupled with state-of-the-art image processing results in images with more 3D depth and detail than can ever be captured with a full frame camera sensor
High ISO Sensitivity
The highest ISO sensitivity of PENTAX 645Z is ISO 204800, which is 128 times of the sensitivity of PENTAX 645D, ISO 1600. Pentax sees 35-mm full frame cameras as competitors to the 645Z, rather than medium format cameras offered by other companies
