The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Sony Cameras is a redesigned version of the iconic 50mm f/1.4 lens from Sigma, setting a new standard for the Art line. This large-aperture prime lens performs at a pro level, ideal for shooting weddings or street photography. Under the hood is a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for quiet, smooth, accurate autofocusing, paired with Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass and Super Multi-Layer coating. Built for Sony E mounts, the 50mm f/1.4 provides top performance for modern DSLR sensors. The lens features 13 elements in 8 groups, maintaining high performance even at wide apertures. It's perfect for close-up photography with its minimum focusing distance of 1.3ft. Get incredible depth of field thanks to the large aperture and versatile focusing. This new standard prime lens is great for multiple uses.
Art Lens
Engineered for those who see photography as an expression of self, Sigma’s Art line offers sophisticated optical performance and abundant expressive power to deliver faithfully on your artistic vision.
DG for Digital
Sigma's DG lenses are specifically designed to deliver the ultimate level of performance on full frame digital SLRs. Sigma DGs also maximize the abilities of 35mm SLR cameras and APS-C size DSLRs. Thanks to a complete and comprehensive approach to the correction of chromatic aberrations, you will experience incredible image clarity and smoothness. Specific attention was paid to helping eliminate color fringing often caused by lateral chromatic aberration, a problem that is magnified at high resolution in digital photography. DG lenses provide exceptionally high contrast along with subtle gradations in tone and color. Super Multi-Layer Coating, along with Sigma's optimized optical design work to reduce reflections between the image sensor and the lens surfaces. The large image circles of DG lenses mean there will always be enough peripheral illumination to avoid vignette.
HSM - Quiet and Fast Autofocusing
HSM lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.
High Resolution Plus Outstanding Bokeh
While maximizing resolution at the area in focus, this lens offers a silky-smooth bokeh affect to the front and rear. To achieve exceptionally crisp resolution, we have minimized sagittal coma flare, chromatic aberration, and every other type of optical aberration that affects image quality. The result is minute detail without bleeding or streaking, even at wide-open aperture. Moreover, we have also minimized both vignetting and color streaking to the front and rear of the area in focus, thereby establishing a bokeh effect that is natural and aesthetically pleasing.
High Peripheral Brightness
Large-aperture lenses are prone to reduced peripheral brightness. In this lens, we have made the forward lens group large-aperture, thereby raising aperture efficiency. The result is minimal reduction of brightness at the image periphery and even image quality throughout the photograph. Even at the wide-open aperture, you can shoot a blue sky without fear of reduced brightness and achieve a beautiful bokeh effect at the same time.
Minimized Distortion
Distortion is an optical aberration in which straight lines appear bent or curved. Since adjusting the focus cannot correct this aberration, it must be minimized at the design stage. This lens features aspheric lens elements and an optimized power distribution to minimize distortion from the center of the frame all the way to the edges.
