The Sigma 24mm 1.4 DG HSM Art is a state of the art wide-angle prime lens designed for Full Frame cameras but will work with APS-C sensors as well. Using over 50 years of lens making experience, the 24mm 1.4 Art is aimed at being the new standard for fast aperture wide angle prime lenses. The latest optical design allows for the utmost in image quality with careful attention paid to edge to edge performance. An optimized power layout places the aspherical lens elements in the rear and adjusts the incidence angle of light source allowing for great performance wide open.

Construction

Using premium FLD and SLD glass elements, the lens brings aberrations and distortion to a minimum, an issue many wide-angle lenses suffer from. With class leading performance, this lens is ideal for wedding photography, landscape photography, videography, astrophotography, lowlight/indoor photography and event photography. As with all Global Vision lines, the 24mm will be tested using the proprietary “A1” measuring system ensuring the highest standard of operation. The Sigma 24mm Art is compatible with the USB dock to update and customize and is also compatible with the Mount Conversion Service. A staple procedure for the Global Vision lines, every lens will be tested using the proprietary “A1” measuring system.

Art Lens

Engineered for those who see photography as an expression of self, Sigma’s Art line offers sophisticated optical performance and abundant expressive power to deliver faithfully on your artistic vision.

DG - DG for Digital

Sigma's DG lenses are specifically designed to deliver the ultimate level of performance on full frame digital SLRs. Sigma DGs also maximize the abilities of 35mm SLR cameras and APS-C size DSLRs. Thanks to a complete and comprehensive approach to the correction of chromatic aberrations, you will experience incredible image clarity and smoothness. Specific attention was paid to helping eliminate color fringing often caused by lateral chromatic aberration, a problem that is magnified at high resolution in digital photography. DG lenses provide exceptionally high contrast along with subtle gradations in tone and color. Super Multi-Layer Coating, along with Sigma's optimized optical design work to reduce reflections between the image sensor and the lens surfaces. The large image circles of DG lenses mean there will always be enough peripheral illumination to avoid vignetting.

HSM - Quiet and Fast Autofocusing

HSM lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.

Minimized Sagittal Coma Flare

Sagittal coma flare is the aberration in which a point light source appears as a streak instead of a point, and it affects large-diameter lenses in particular. By positioning aspherical lens elements toward the rear of the 24mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art, we have adjusted the angle of incidence of light for optimal power distribution. Even at wide-open aperture, you will enjoy outstanding image quality. Since streaking of point light sources toward the edges of the image is minimized, this lens is a powerful ally in photographing celestial bodies, nighttime

Flare and Ghosting Reduction

From an early stage in the lens design process, flare and ghosting have been measured to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting. SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions. The included lens hood can be attached to block out extraneous light, which can have a negative effect on rendering performance.
