The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG HSM OS Contemporary Lens was created around the concept of maximum portability meets utmost image quality in a variable aperture hyper-telephoto zoom lens. This light weight and compact zoom can handle any long-reach photographic situation one may encounter. The 150-600mm Contemporary lens boasts updated Sigma technology such as a quiet and optimized Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) and Optical Stabilizer (OS) with an accelerometer for improved panning photography both vertically and horizontally, essential for birding, wildlife and motor photography. The Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary also touts a new zoom lock switch that can be locked at any focal length and a new manual override (MO) switch is incorporated for improved focusing control. Working with the Sigma USB dock, this lens allows for maximum customization such as firmware updates and adjustments to the focus limiter, AF speed and OS view.
Incredible Image Clarity
The Sigma's DG lenses are specifically designed to deliver the ultimate level of performance on full frame digital SLRs. Sigma DGs also maximize the abilities of 35mm SLR cameras and APS-C size DSLRs. Experience incredible image clarity and smoothness, thanks to a complete and comprehensive approach to the correction of chromatic aberrations. Specific attention was paid to helping eliminate color fringing often caused by lateral chromatic aberration, a problem that is magnified at high resolution in digital photography. The DG lenses provide exceptionally high contrast along with subtle gradations in tone and color. The Super Multi-Layer Coating, along with Sigma's optimized optical design work to reduce reflections between the image sensor and the lens surfaces.
Optical Image Stabilizer
Never miss that perfect shot with the Sigma contemporary lens. The optical stabilization function utilizes a built-in mechanism that compensates for camera shake. It dramatically expands photographic possibilities by alleviating cameras movement when shooting by hand held camera.
Quiet and Fast Autofocusing
The Hyper Sonic Motor lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.
F Low Dispersion Glass (FLD)
Sigma's FLD glass stands for F Low Dispersion, constructed from a material equal in performance to fluorite glass. This specially engineered optic element allows for exceptional correction for residual chromatic aberration. Its density is less than traditional glass, allowing the overall construction of the lens to be lighter and more efficient.
Contemporary Lens
This lens is part of the Contemporary category of Sigma's Global Vision. Sigma's Contemporary lenses combine modern techniques and materials in order to deliver a concept which combines a streamlined, lightweight construction with best-in-class optical quality and performance. This compact lens is one you trust for a variety of everyday applications.
