The newly developed push-on petal type SIGMA LH706-02 Lens
Hood is included with the SIGMA 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN lens. Unlike the
conventional bayonet type lens hoods that attach with a rotating movement, this
push-on type lens hood is attached onto the lens using a spring and lever
system. The implementation of this new design reduces the size and thickness of
the hood so that it matches the compact size of the lens.
Compact Hood with New Mechanism to go with the Compact Lens
A new push-on petal type hood has been developed. Thanks to the new structure
with a spring and lever which is not used by any other manufacturer, the hood
has been made both thinner and smaller.
Compact and Useful
The small size of the hood also contributes to the compactness of the lens, as
a whole, including the length of the hood, allowing photographers to take full
advantage of its mobility even when the hood is attached.
Minimum Change in Hood Diameter
The SIGMA 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary has filter
diameter that’s 12 mm larger than that of the SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary
to ensure a wide angle of view. However, the hood diameter has a difference of
only 3.8mm due to the use of a push-on type hood that makes the hood thinner.
More to Come
Whether this type of hood is going to be adopted in future models has not
been determined, SIGMA is planning to actively adopt it in products featuring
compact size.
Attachment and Removal Methods
Please note that the installation method is different from that of bayonet
type hoods. When the lens is in use (positive position),to attach, align the index ‘-‘ on the
hood with the index ‘-‘ on the lens and push in the hood onto the lens. To
remove, gently twist the lens hood in the direction of the arrow. When the lens
is stored (reverse position) to attach, align the index downward sign on the hood with
the index ‘-‘ on
the lens and push in the hood onto the lens. To remove, gently twist the lens
hood in the direction of the arrow.

You will receive a full refund when you return an item in its original manufacturer’s packaging, undamaged and unmarked. If the item you are returning is priced at less than $35, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee. Please note you will not be refunded any shipping charges.
