Zeiss Normal 50mm f/1.5 C Sonnar T* ZM Manual Focus Lens

The C Sonnar T* 1.5/50 ZM lens is the modern technological reincarnation of the classical Sonnar 1.5/50, the fastest standard lens of its time, for the Contax II rangefinder camera. It is fast, very resistant to flaring and unusually compact - therefore the C in the lens name. With its well controlled distortion, the lens produces a very accurate representation of objects. It can take the same filters which fit the ZM wide angle lenses with 28, 25 and 21mm focal lengths. This is a very versatile lens for photojournalistic work in general and for available light photography in particular.

C SONNAR LENS 

The C designation stands for both compact and classic. The lens design and aperture shape reflect its predecessor from the 1930s, the Sonnar 1,5/50, which was the fastest standard lens of its time. The excellent flare control inherent of the Sonnar lens design is further optimized with the ZEISS T* anti-reflection coating. This lens stays true to its heritage, physically resembling the lenses of the past.

ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING

The Zeiss anti-reflective coating is an optical design feature which ensures superior clarity and image brilliance, even in poor or unfavorable lighting conditions. Zeiss enhances the anti-reflective properties of this lens by meticulously applying incredibly thin, transparent coatings to the glass surfaces. This is achieved through a high-vacuum deposition process, where specialized substances are energized and then precisely layered onto the glass, one after another, to minimize reflections.

ADVANCED APERTURE DESIGN

With ZEISS lenses you can create stunning Bokeh effects, thanks to the finely tuned features of ZEISS SLR lenses. By keeping the background intentionally blurred, additional focus is created on the subject of an image. The uniquely engineered diaphragm blades of this lens, along with the virtually circular aperture, deliver stunning renditions of highlights the back and foreground.
